From 1874 until 1903, McAleer and his family lived in the Carriage House to serve the Clemens family.

After a few minutes, my eyes adjust, and I can see the intricate stenciling on the mahogany wood has intricate patterns. We crane our heads back to see the entirety of a grand dark wood staircase that winds upward.
